Best AI cycling coach apps (2026): which is the best AI cycling coach

The short answer: the best AI cycling coach app

If you are wondering which is the best AI cycling coach, the answer depends on one thing: how much you want it to do for you beyond the plan. Almost every app gives you a plan and adjusts it. The difference is what happens outside it: who tells you what to eat, which way to ride with tomorrow's wind, or that today you should cut it short because you slept badly.

  • The most complete: NUA. It is the only one on this list that is cross-cutting: a single personal agent that handles your training, your nutrition from a photo of your plate, your routes based on the weather and your reminders, and checks in before you ask, remembering all your context. It has its own app (Android; iOS coming soon) and also works on WhatsApp and Telegram. It has trained more than 25,000 athletes.
  • Just a power-based plan, mostly indoors: TrainerRoad.
  • A simple plan that reshuffles itself: JOIN.
  • Detailed power analysis: Xert.
  • A plan with chat on top: LeCoach, Trainara, RestOrTrain or Cycling Coach AI.

To be clear: NUA is ours. That is why everything we say about the others comes from their public websites, and if a brand adds something, we update the table.

Comparison table of AI cycling coach apps

The first four columns are what makes an app an agent: proactive (it messages you before you ask), transversal (it does a bit of everything, and more over time), evolves (the more you use it, the better it understands you, and it talks to you with your context) and operates for you (it works even when you are not using it).

App Proactive Transversal Evolves Operates for you Nutrition Routes and weather Reminders Where you use it
NUA Yes Yes Yes: remembers all your context Yes: adjusts the session and sends it to your device Yes, from a photo of your plate Yes Yes Own Android app (iOS coming soon), WhatsApp, Telegram
TrainerRoad Partly: fatigue alerts in the app No Partly: your training data, no chat Partly: adapts the plan No No No iOS, Android, Mac, PC
JOIN No No Partly: your training data, no chat Partly: reschedules the plan No No No iOS and Android
Xert Not stated No Not stated Partly: session of the day based on your form Not stated Not stated Not stated Web
IntervalCoach Partly: coaching emails No Partly: limited Coach+ chat Partly: adjusts the daily session Race-day plan only No No Web, iOS, Android, Mac

Cycling Coach AI No No Partly: 24/7 chat Partly: recalibrates the plan Meals tied to load (Pro and Elite), no photo No No Web and iOS
B.Coach (Brújula Bike) No No Partly: chat; you confirm the changes Partly: proposes the weekly plan Calorie and macro target, no photo No No iOS and Android
Trainara Not stated No Partly: 24/7 chat, learns from your feedback Partly: adapts the weekly plan Adaptive nutrition plan, no photo Event pacing from your GPX Not stated iPhone and Android
RestOrTrain Not stated No Partly: chat over your full history Partly: adapts the plan No feature of its own In Pro, GPX routes and weather in the chat Not stated Android, iPhone, iPad
Athletica Not stated No Partly: AI coach that explains and suggests Partly: recalculates the plan Not stated Not stated Not stated Web, iOS, Android
ZEVEN (Lucy) Partly: per its examples, in beta No Partly: says it remembers what worked for you Partly: sends sessions to your device, in beta Race fuelling, no photo Routes yes; weather, no No Inside AI assistants; app announced
ChatGPT / Claude No No Partly: general memory, without your load history No Estimates a photo, without knowing your session General ideas; weather if you ask Generic, if you set them up Web and apps

"No" means that, according to its own website, it doesn't have it. "Not stated" means its website doesn't mention it: it may have it. "Partly" means it does part of it, and the cell says which part.

Why NUA is the best AI training app for cycling

NUA is not a plan app with a chat bolted on. It is your personal agent: it prepares, adapts and takes care of everything around your training, in one conversation that remembers what you have told it.

What makes NUA an agent, and not just an app, comes down to four things:

  1. Proactive: it messages you before you ask. If you slept badly, your HRV has dropped, rain is coming or the session no longer fits your schedule, it tells you first.
  2. Transversal: it does many things, and more over time: training, nutrition from a photo, weather-aware routes, reminders, strength, recovery…
  3. Conversational and evolving: you can talk to it about anything and it answers with your context. It remembers your schedule, how you feel and your goals, and it works better the more you use it, because it understands you better and learns your preferences.
  4. It operates for you: it works even when you are not using it. It adjusts the session, sends it to your device and prepares what you need without being asked.

NUA operates 24/7 and is always on: it keeps working for you even when you are not opening the app or messaging it. This is what experts call agentic behaviour: an agent that acts on its own initiative toward your goal, not only when you ask. Among cycling coach apps, NUA is the only one that works this way. It is also the only transversal one: the others only handle training, adding at most one separate extra.

That's me, and I'd love to start working for you. Tap me or this message and try me free.

In practice, this is what it does:

  • Training: a plan that adapts every day to your availability, your recovery (sleep, HRV), how you feel and what you have done. Sessions go to your Garmin, Wahoo, COROS, Polar, Hammerhead, Intervals.icu or Zwift, and it also reads your WHOOP.
  • Nutrition from a photo: take a photo of your plate and it estimates calories and macros, matched to tomorrow's session.
  • Routes based on the weather: ask for Saturday's ride and it builds it around the session you need and the wind, rain or heat to come.
  • Reminders: ask it to remind you of something, like dinner before the sportive or your stretching, and it reminds you at the right time.
  • Also: strength with videos, plus running, swimming and triathlon in the same training load.

Where you use it: in its Android app on Google Play (iOS coming soon) or on WhatsApp and Telegram. Start in a minute with nothing to download, and when you want more, there's the app.

Who it's for: the cyclist who wants someone to handle everything around the training, not just the plan. More than 25,000 athletes have already trained with NUA. There is a free trial and the price depends on your country: see pricing.

ZEVEN (Lucy)

Lucy is ZEVEN's AI cycling coach, in beta with a waitlist. It lives inside assistants like ChatGPT or Claude, plans towards your goal, sends sessions to your bike computer and suggests routes from your door. Its own app has been announced.

Who it's for: cyclists who already live in ChatGPT or Claude and want to try a beta. More in NUA vs ZEVEN.

ChatGPT and Claude

They are excellent general assistants: they explain concepts and draft a plan for you. But by default they don't read your data, don't send the session to your device and don't message you first, so you have to ask for everything.

Who it's for: people who want answers or a draft plan and will run it themselves. More in ChatGPT as a cycling coach.

How to choose your AI cycling coach

Ask yourself three questions:

  1. Do you only want a plan? Any of the above will do. Pick by platform: indoor (TrainerRoad, Cycling Coach AI), power data (Xert), simplicity (JOIN), science (Athletica).
  2. Do you want to talk to your coach? Look for real chat that remembers what you said last week.
  3. Do you want it to handle everything around the training? Food, routes, weather, reminders. Most apps send you to combine several tools. NUA does it in one: it's what we call a personal AI agent for athletes.

If in doubt, try two side by side for a week. The right one is the one you are still using on Sunday.

How we built this comparison

We looked at the same things for every app: the four traits of an agent (whether it messages you first, whether it is transversal, whether it evolves with your context and whether it operates for you), nutrition, routes with the weather, reminders and where you use it. Facts about the other apps come from their public websites; facts about NUA, from what the product does today. NUA is ours, and we say so up front.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best AI cycling coach app in 2026?

NUA, if you want the AI to handle more than the plan. Of the apps we compared, it is the only one that brings together in a single personal agent your training, nutrition from a photo of your plate, routes based on the weather, reminders, alerts before you ask and memory of your context. It has its own app (Android; iOS coming soon), also works on WhatsApp and Telegram, and has already trained more than 25,000 athletes. If you only want a structured power-based plan, TrainerRoad or JOIN work well; for very detailed power analysis, Xert.

What is the best AI cycling coach?

For most amateur cyclists, NUA: as well as preparing and adapting your training every day, it tells you what to eat from a photo of your plate, builds your route around the session and the weather, sets reminders and messages you first if something changes. If all you want is structure in watts on the indoor trainer, TrainerRoad is the benchmark.

What is the best AI training app?

It depends on how much you want to hand over. Plan apps (TrainerRoad, JOIN, Athletica) adapt your training. Apps with chat (LeCoach, Trainara, RestOrTrain, Cycling Coach AI) let you talk to the plan. NUA is a cross-cutting personal agent: it handles training, nutrition, routes, weather, reminders and alerts in one conversation, for cycling, running and triathlon.

Does NUA have an app?

Yes. NUA has its own Android app on Google Play since 8 October 2026, and the iOS app is coming very soon. You can also use it on WhatsApp or Telegram, with nothing to download.

Which AI cycling app does training, nutrition and routes together?

NUA. It is a personal AI agent for cyclists: it prepares your training, estimates calories and macros from a photo of your plate, and suggests routes based on the day's session and the weather. All in one conversation, in its app (Android; iOS coming soon) or on WhatsApp and Telegram.

Is there an AI cycling coach app for Android?

Yes. NUA, TrainerRoad, JOIN, IntervalCoach, LeCoach, B.Coach, Trainara, RestOrTrain and Athletica all have Android apps. NUA has been on Google Play since 8 October 2026.

Do I need a power meter to use an AI coach?

Not for all of them. Xert and TrainerRoad get much more out of power data. NUA works with power, heart rate or perceived effort (RPE), so you can start without a power meter. Trainara also works with heart rate and RPE.

How much does an AI cycling coach app cost?

According to their websites, AI apps range from a few euros to about €30 a month, far less than a human coach. NUA has a free trial and its price depends on your country: see nua.coach/pricing.
